The city which is the largest visited in the world had somewhat slowed down due to violent terrorism just a month ago. New Year’s Eve celebration on the Champs Elysées will go ahead despite talk of it being ditched, but the regular fireworks will be missing . Airbnb claims that after New York, Paris is the second most popular global destination for tourism. The company has made over a million bookings for over 160 countries in the New Year Period.
London is the third most popular destination which has recorded bookings up to 35,000, Sydney with 25,000 and Barcelona with 24,000.
Paris is rebounding as the city is looking forward to its new tourists who prefer short term rentals. Some of the city’s most expensive real estate is being kept in style, by Airbnb rentals for tourists from all over the world. 44 percent of homes are advertised on Airbnb that are permanently available for rentals. The owners are ready to put up with noisy tourists as long as the rent increases. Renting houses for more than four months is allowed by the French Law and the company can do good business in the city.
The company has 40 million users all over the world. The trend has given a tough competition to traditional hotels who regard Airbnb as their rival for flouting traditional taxes. But the company has recently agreed to pay taxes for each of its bookings that are made in Paris.
