As compared to last summer, the leading three highest-growth destinations were three Chinese cities including Hangzhou that saw an overwhelming 495% growth as compared to the summer of 2016, Chongqing that had grown by 388% and Wuhan that followed closely behind at 371%.
Outside China, the most popular destinations this summer were Oceanside enclaves, be it New Zealand or Brazil.
Analysts had also noted that out of the 45 million guests who had utilized Airbnb this summer, about 8 million were families. Families from France, US, Italy and Spain were most likely to book stays with Airbnb.
A few of the most favorable family destinations this summer were inclusive of Gulf Shores, Japan, Potiers, France, Missouri, Alabama and Branson.
And, some of the most popular summer activities provided by their Experiences portal were associated with dancing, sailing, riding and hiking. The guests of Airbnb had paid an average of US$50 per night for a lodging in the US and the busiest night of the summer was 12th August that saw about 2.6 million guests putting up at an Airbnb rental.
