Shannon AirportOne of the world’s most famous astronauts and one of only 24 people to have flown to the moon touched down in Shannon again this week ahead of a return visit to Co. Limerick.

Al Worden (photographed with Shannon Group Strategy Director Patrick Edmond on his arrival on Monday), who was one of 19 astronauts selected by NASA in 1966, landed in Shannon on Monday morning en route to Co. Limerick where he is a Lough Gur Development Patron.

Said Mr Edmond, “Al Worden is one of the iconic names of space exploration and has shown the rest of the world that all frontiers are there to be crossed. It was a pleasure to have him back at Shannon for the second time in twelve months and we are delighted to see that he has taken to this region as much as he has.”

Mr Worden has a packed schedule during his visit, including a meeting with fellow Lough Gur Development patrons and making a presentation to lucky students at Mainister National School.
