Alabama tourism commemorated for promoting civil rights travel

The state tourism agency of Alabama is being commemorated for its work promoting civil rights travel in 14 states in America.

 

On Tuesday, the agency was awarded for recognizing its marketing campaign for the U.S. Civil Rights Trail during an industry trade show in London.

 

The trail promotes museums, churches and other landmarks of Africa America all over the South. The materials for promotion comprise 1960 video interviews with civil rights participants along with photos of the landmarks.

 

Alabama managed the project in together with the Atlanta-based TravelSouth USA and the National Park Service. The trail comprises sites from Kansas to Delaware, including all of the Deep South.

 

Alabama got an award for best regional destination. According to a news release other finalists included areas in Spain, India, the Canary Islands and the Netherlands.
