The island of Santorini is one of the exotic isles located in Greek Island. The striking beach and charming views make this place a must-visit destination for any nature lover. Situated off the coast of Albania, Sazan Island has immaculate coastline. But the place is still in mystery to many Albanians. This is because the idle was once a secure and remote military base which was devoid of civilians for a long time. During 1930, the island was first used by fascist regime by the Italians. As per the officers of post-world-war II communist regime of Albania, this place was ‘airplane carrier, the port of defense, the key to controlling the Otranto Strait.’ Currently this once up on a time secret military island is opened as a key tourist attraction for the public.
The communist government had built the trenches and tunnels in order to keep the place away from western invasion. The ruined buildings still have kitchen utensils, old beds, chairs and school benches left. This subtropical paradise is now opening up to the tourists as confirmed by the Albania’s Defense ministry. Defense Minister Mimi Kodheli signed an agreement with the Economy Minister Milva Ekonomi on this Wednesday to let visitors explore this place during the warmer months, from May until October.
