This cruise ship was being operated by Phoenix Reisen, a German travel agency and it was about to sail to Ireland. However, it sought the permission to travel to Liverpool.
Angie Redhead, cruise terminal manager said that the Spanish and Portuguese war ships had been departing so that port was quite busy, apart from the arrival of the cruise ship Albatros. He added that the crew members and passengers seemed to be thrilled at this unexpected stop over at Liverpool.
She also said that the authorities were in good terms with the cruise ship. Therefore, the team of the port was ready for the docking of the ship. While the gangways opened, passengers started leaving the cruise ship. Some of them had been enquiring for maps and many were aiming to leave for excursions. She went on to add that the museums and Albert Docks were the most visited destinations yesterday.
The Albatros cruise ship had been built in the year 1973 in the region of Finland for the Royal Viking Line. Ever since that point of time, this cruise ship has also sailed under the names Crown, Norwegian Star and Royal Odyssey.
The cruise ship measures 25 m in length and weighs about 28,518 tonnes. It has a capacity of accommodating as many as 812 passengers.
