Allegiant Air Flight 749, from South Bend in Indiana to Sanford International Airport in Orlando, made an emergency landing in Jacksonville on Wednesday, 6th July. When the flight crew noticed the presence of an electrical odour inside the cabin, they decided to go for an emergency landing.
The flight landed in Jacksonville almost at 1:26pm local time.
In the official statement, the Allegiant Air authority informed that there was no indication of visible smoke inside the cabin. Thus, an evacuation was not really necessary.
Although the crew members said there was no need for an evacuation, still all the 166 passengers and the crew members were evacuated from the flight after it landed, just to ensure their safety.
The passengers had to face a delay of more than five hours. The flight reached its actual destination Sanford International Airport after 6:30pm local time.
Allegiant Air spokesperson Jessica Wheeler informed that the passengers were given meals and drink-vouchers and the flight authority also gave them a chance to change their flight without charging them extra amount.
Passengers of Allegiant Air Flight 749, were given a $50 off voucher for their next Allegiant Air flight as a sorry gesture.
