AmaWaterways Named ASTA’s 2017 River Cruise Line Partner of the Year

AmawaterwaysAmaWaterways today proudly announced that it has been named the American Society of Travel Agents’ (ASTA) 2017 River Cruise Line Partner of the Year. The award was presented this weekend during ASTA’s Global Convention in San Diego, California. On hand to receive the award on behalf of AmaWaterways was Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-owner and Gary Murphy, vice president of sales and co-owner.


“Receiving this recognition from ASTA is such a validation of the hard work and incredible customer care delivered by our AmaWaterways employees in our office, in the field and onboard our 20 ships,” said Karst. “This year marks our 15th anniversary and we could not have come this far without the tremendous support we have received from the travel agent community. We thank ASTA for this accolade and are excited to see our relationship grow moving forward.”


Since inception in 2002, AmaWaterways has understood the importance of travel agent training and field support and continues to invest significantly in these two areas. The company currently staffs 22 business development managers in North America and hosts more than 30 ‘Seminars on the River’ each year providing travel professionals with the opportunity to enjoy some of the line’s most popular river cruise itineraries, hosted by expert sales team members who share in-depth product knowledge, strategies and key sales tips while onboard.


“We are so proud and grateful for the support we have received from the travel agent community as we grow our fleet and introduce new exciting onboard services, like our Wellness Program,” said Murphy. “We value the hard work and dedication of this important group and will continue to provide our full support through innovative co-op marketing programs and educational resources to help each of them succeed.”


The ASTA Global Convention Awards recognizes industry suppliers who demonstrate a willingness and desire to partner with agencies and reward the travel agent sales force.
