American Airlines, a major American airlines company has a wide network of both domestic and international routes with more than 6500 flights. The new baggage system will help the passengers and also to the crew to manage the baggage.
This unique baggage service stops after a short of sending alerts to everyone on the plane, however, and will only send alerts to passengers whose bags are not on the same plane when they land. Early Baggage Arrival alert will notify its customers if their bag arrived before them, and will direct them to the right baggage service office for pick-up. Late Baggage Arrival alert does the same for bags that will be arriving on a later flight. Instead of waiting unwittingly at the carousel, passengers will be instructed to proceed directly to the baggage service office for an update on their baggage arrival when travelling internationally.
On domestic flights, the customers will receive a Mobile Baggage Order on their mobile phones that will ask for delivery details and a bag description, to accelerate the procedure and spare travellers from stopping at the baggage office at the airport.
The passengers can also take the matters into their own hands with a portable baggage tracker –Trakdot- a small device placed inside the check baggage that works with the user’s mobile phone after the linking. Upon the arrival at their destination, Track dot will send the owner an SMS and an email on its whereabouts to registered phone number or the mail id.
