It would be introducing nonstop flights between ILM and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) on Saturdays from April through August as per a news release. The service line is an extension of the nonstop route the airline is following during a two-week trial period over the holidays.
The airport officials said in the release that on account of the response from the community American Airlines informed ILM that it would be offering the non-stop flight during the spring and summer season in 2018, as confirmed in the release.
The holiday service would commence from 23rd December and continue till 7th January according to the officials.
Julie Wilsey, the airport director said that they appreciate the fact that American has selected a seasonal non-stop service between ILM and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) in the spring and summer.
Apart from offering more non-stop flights for their community it would also help showcase Wilmington and their island beaches as a tourism destination.
This news comes three days after ILM declared the airline would be expanding its service at the airport with a daily nonstop flight to Reagan National Airport (DCA) and also summer nonstop flights to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), as per a news release.
The year-round flights to DCA are slated to begin by 7th May 2018 and the summer seasonal service to ORD that runs from 7th June till 4th September, as mentioned by the officials.
Currently American offers year-round flight service between ILM and Charlotte, Philadelphia and New York-LaGuardia.
