The dead body of the missing 19-year-old traveller was recovered from the river Tiber in Rome on Monday, 4th of July. The American teenager, Beau Solomon was visiting Italy to attend a summer school retreat.
The boy reached Rome on Thursday, 30th June along with other student-travellers. He went missing around 1am on Thursday night after visiting G-Bar near Trastevere.
The body of Solomon was discovered near the Guglielmo Marconi bridge, three miles from the area, where he was seen last.
The police spokesperson stated that it might be a homicide. At present, the investigators are looking into his suspicious credit card transaction after he went missing. The boy’s parents received bank transaction alerts from Milan.
Rebecca Blank, the Chancellor of University of Wisconsin-Madison issued an official statement which stated, “Beau was a bright and caring young man who lived the Wisconsin Idea through his work at Badger Boys State and his desire to travel and experience other cultures. Our hearts go out to Beau’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
This is the second time in two years when a student-traveller disappeared at first and his body was recovered later. Two years prior to this tragic incident, another American boy went missing after a night out in Rome.
