The amount of finance granted to companies in the tourism sector in Brazil increased by 17 % from January to September 2013 compared to the same period last year which amounts to £ 9.2 billion as compared to £ 7.8 billion. In 2012, bank loans totaled R $ 11.2 billion.
The loans were granted to airlines , hotels , parks , conveyors , bars , restaurants, car rental companies and travel agencies by the Bank of Brazil , Caixa Economica Federal , Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Economico e Social ( BNDES ) , Banco do Nordeste and Banco Amazon .
“Among the reasons for the growth are the increased dialogue between the public and private sectors of tourism, recognizing the potential of the area by the banks and the organization of entrepreneurs to raise funds ,” said Secretary National Development Programs Tourism , Fábio Mota.
