Amtrak Hiawatha Service now has another great reason to travel by train on Saturdays between Chicago and Milwaukee: customers can now buy one fare for Saturday travel and get a companion fare half-off. That’s a round-trip for two for $75 on Saturdays.
Tickets must be purchased online to receive the discounted companion fare (promotion code V451). Saturday is a great time to visit the city sites or family and friends because:
* Taking your bicycle to get around at your end destination only costs $5 and doesn’t require a box. Simply reserve a spot for your bike and hand it to the Amtrak crew member at the baggage car.
* Saturdays are a great day to explore the cities with kids. Up to two children (ages 2-12) can ride for half-price with any full fare adult.
* Amtrak Hiawatha trains have late-night service on Saturdays. The last train departs Milwaukee at 10:40 p.m. and Chicago at 11:10 p.m.
Amtrak Hiawatha Service trains, running between Milwaukee and Chicago, are jointly sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Illinois Department of Transportation. “There are plenty of great Saturday entertainment, shopping, sports and eating options in Chicago and Milwaukee. The Hiawatha gives you the option to skip the drive and get there by rail instead,” said Dave Simon, Chief of Railroads & Harbors at the Wisconsin DOT.
