VisitScotland has introduced a latest virtual reality app named as ‘ScotlandVR’. It’s all geared to provide a ground-breaking experience to the travel lovers based anywhere in the globe to get immersed Scottish landmarks.
Research shows that more than 60 percent of the travel enthusiasts first check the location on mobile and then visit the place in person. The app can be downloaded free from Apple Store and Google Play and can be used by android and apple users.
The journey starts by providing a 360 degree imagery and footage with moo-ing Highland cow, crackling fire and bellowing stag. From there on, travelers can experience 26 attractions of Scotland in various regions. If one is using a Google Cardboard virtual reality headset, he or she can get a stereoscopic 3D experience. In phone mode, one can get 360˚ view using gyroscope technology.
2016 was the year of Innovation, Architecture and Design in Scotland. VisitScotland requested young talents from academia to create an interactive and exciting digital product designed to inspire and motivate tourists all over the world to visit Scotland.
Edinburgh Napier University team was the winner. Led by Professor David Benyon and Dr Oli Mival, this team developed the concept of this unique app in which interested travelers can have a virtual tour of Scotland.
