A recent report by the intelligence agency MIT has warned that the ISIL militants might target the public transport system of five Turkish provinces including the capital city. The warning has been coded as ‘urgent’ and it has put the five provinces among the high risk area.
According to the report, the Eurasia Tunnel, which will connect the European and Asian side of Istanbul, might be attacked by the militants. The tunnel is about to open in December 2016. The notice has warned that the organization is seeking an attack targeting the Turkish aviation sector. It also said that the Intelligence information was received on militants planning to sneak explosives or sharp objects such as knives and razors onto airplanes hidden inside electronic devices. Thus the danger of attacks has increased in the recent days.
As the Turkish government fears that the terrorists may attack the public meetings and protests in the capital city Ankara, they have banned every public gathering until November.
A formal statement issued by the governor’s office has stated that based on intelligence received, illegal terror groups are aiming to carry out attacks in the Ankara province.
Ankara has witnessed numerous attacks in the past by the Islamic States militants and the Kurdish insurgents. In the month of October, two suspected members of the terror group PKK have been blown up by the security forces as they believed that the two have been plotting a bomb attack.
