Yas Link’s club captain’s, Mr. Thomas Kunt and Mrs. Andrea Hartley hosted the annual Captains Day Yellow Ball Team Tournament at Yas Links. The day is designed for our members and partners to come together and raise money for this year’s captains chosen charity, The Make a Wish Foundation & Cancer Research UK.
The Make a Wish Foundation is a “charity that grants wishes to children between the ages of 3 and 18 who are living with a life threatening medical condition. There are four types of wishes that may asked for, I wish to go; I wish to be; I wish to have and I wish to meet.”
Cancer Research UK “is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Their groundbreaking work has saved millions of lives worldwide. Their ambition is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured”
The event’s success was due to the generous donations from our Yas Links Members and from highly generous Corporate and Merchandise partners. In addition to sponsor support, funds were raised in various ways from offering helicopter rides from Aerogulf Services Company to selling mulligans, holding on course competitions, selling raffle tickets and a holding a live auction.
In addition to gracious donations and the participation of all that attended, the amount of prizes contributed by corporate partners and friends were astounding. It is with great pleasure to report that through the described generous efforts over AED 90,000 has been collected for the charity. As for the competition itself, the day had a fun yet competitive spirit as there were also on course competitions to compete in.
Both captains say, “I want to say a really big thank you to everyone who contributed to the day which, far exceeded our expectations. It was a fun day and a great success for the charities. I’m proud to be one of the captains this year and I feel quite humble at the generosity and support that the members and sponsors have given to this event. Thank you all”.
