Over its logo, Apple is pressurizing a German cycle path, which the American multinational technology company claims that it’s too close to its own iconic logo.

The Apfelroute logo was planned for a cycling path in the Rhine-Voreifel region of Germany. It is all set to open on May 19th. The logo has by now been added in uniforms, bike racks, maps and banners by tourism company Rhine-Voreifel Tourism.

The logo looks quite close to Apple’s own logo. That’s mainly obvious with the leaf and “bite” taken out of its right hand side. Apple would like the logo to be customized to take away the similarities.

Managing director of Rhine-Voreifel Tourism, Eva Konrath, informed a local publication that, “it’s unbelievable that such a large company is attacking us.”

The company has four employees, and expects that Apple will settle out of court. Konrath has explained that the logo will be used for the bike path exclusively.

What will happen next?

It has to be seen that whether Apfelroute changes its materials. Asking for a logo to be altered is not an enormous task. Nevertheless, it’s reasonably a pain for any small business which has already printed up materials.

Apple, for its part, forcefully enforces its trademarks. That’s in spite of the fact that, someone paradoxically, it’s been more than happy in the past to steamroll companies when it wants to use branding that they already own.
