Argentina is currently trying to establish a long-term partnership with the tourist operators in the Philippines in order to boost the tourist arrivals in both these nations. The PTAA or Philippine Travel Agencies Association said that Argentine Embassy Commercial Attaché Martin Soto is eager to introduce Argentina to the market of Philippines.
This is because the lack of awareness and also direct flights between the two countries have been adversely affecting the potential growth of the tourist arrivals in Philippines and Argentina.
Soto said that his responsibility is to raise awareness about Argentina as a tourist locale. He also said that the people of Philippines are not much knowledgeable about Argentina. He went on to add that it takes about 24 to 30 hours to reach Philippines from Argentina. But then, one would require to spend just $150 a day to enjoy Argentina.
Soto stated that generally, a majority of people who arrive in Argentina are seafarers and just 500 Filipinos visit Argentina as tourists every year.
Maria Michelle Reyes-Victoria, president of PTAA said that Argentina has immense untapped potential as a market for travel agencies. She also said that the populace of Philippines is middle-class and has the capability to travel domestically and even to travel abroad. She added that travel agencies would be able to offer seven-day tour packages to Ushuaia, El Calafete, Mendoza and Buenos Aires.
