ArmeniaThe Armenian government plans to double the number of tourists visiting Armenia. Zarmine Zeytuntsyan, President of the State Tourism Committee said this after the cabinet meeting on May 11.

Zeytuntsyan said that in the first quarter of 2017, the number of tourists visiting Armenia increased by 18.23%. To quote Zeytuntsyan, “It sounds very ambitious, but we aim to double the number of tourists until the end of this year. In this sense, we carry out significant work, especially in neighboring states, in Iran, Russia. I think we will have higher growth in April which we will compare with April 2015, since in April 2016 due to the four-day war we recorded a decline in the field.”

Zeytuntsyan said that in 2017 first quarter, the largest number of tourists were from Iran, Russia, France and China. 23% of tourists from Iran were registered.
