When the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gets on the move in Tokyo, Project Sky Canvas is thinking of painting the sky above with shooting stars. They have plans to put a micro-satellite in the orbit that will shoot out tiny particles into the atmosphere.
As these particles will come down to earth, they will burn up and become shooting stars that can be directed to any preferred location and can be seen within a radius of up to 200 kms or 124 miles.
This man-made meteor shower will grace the opening ceremony of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The Sky Canvas project aims to go beyond the average fireworks and come up with this spectacular display.
They have already conducted the initial tests by placing the particles in a vacuum chamber and blasted them with hot gases traveling with supersonic speed. A range of colors emitted by using various materials. If successful, this artificial shooting star show will be a sight to remember for sure!
