It will help Aruba get connected with small hotels on the Caribbean island directly to potential tourists and a platform is expected to be launched and trialed by early next year.
Winding Tree had earlier collaborations with Lufthansa and Air New Zealand.
Aruba has a huge influx of tourism and it is expected the figures were as high as 90%.
Pedro Anderson , Winding Tree co-founder said that Aruba will be the first country to be dependent on blockchain. He further said that it is the best for hotels but later on by 2018 airlines will be added.
Ethereum is a public, decentralised blockchain technology on which the Winding Tree’s platform is built. It has smart contracts a kind of language which allows the developers to write their own programs.
Aruba doesn’t want the amount of tourism revenue to get shipped offshore and lower the reliance on Expedia and Priceline.
Winding Tree will work in collaboration with the island’s ATECH Foundation.
Anderson mentioned that he spoke to the tourism officials during one of their conference mentioning that the island was basically forward thinking in its approach to modern technologies.
A separate Caribbena cryptocurrency had been launched and the island is expected to turn into a 100 % renewable energy destination by 2020 with its Smart Island Strategy in place.
