In 2016, Hawaiian Airlines had the best financial results on record. It reaffirms its commitment to the Asia Pacific region while observing their anniversary of service between Honolulu and Auckland. To quote, Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO, ‘”It reflects our confidence and commitment to this part of the world.’
One of the largest and longest aircraft in Hawaii, Honolulu based carrier is also the 8th largest commercial airline in America. The major Asia Pacific markets for this carrier include Australia, New Zealand, China and South Korea. The airline also plans to develop its services to Japan with added routes to Tokyo.
Though the company underwent a major bankruptcy in the year 2005, the company repositioned itself by providing comfortable air travel to Hawaii, one of the popular destinations for leisure vacation in the world.
Hawaii Tourism Authority statistics showed that the first two months of this year showed strong overseas tourist inflow, majorly from New Zealand and Australia. Since 2010, visitor arrival at Hawaii has increased immensely with 8.8 million people by air. This is expected to grow to 9.41 million by 2020. To quote Dunkerley, ‘As a company, we embrace that. We wrap ourselves in the flag of Hawaii, in its culture and what it stands for. That’s a very successful formula for us.’
