U.K.-based InterContinental Hotels Group declared on Wednesday that is planning to usher in two of its hotel brands to China and the Asia Pacific with an aim to attract travelers looking for a personalized luxury experience as well as wellness enthusiasts in the region.
The new brands are Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, a luxury boutique chain operating mostly in the United States and Even Hotels focusing on introducing health and wellness into the travel experience.
Bringing the high-profile Kimpton label to Asia Pacific and China makes good sense since the business of the InterContinental is growing at a swift pace in those regions as mentioned by Keith Barr who is the CEO of this hotel group. He feels that as urbanization progresses further these markets have a considerable demand for hotels across the entire chain scale right from luxury down to mainstream.
Even Hotels also fits in a great ‘sweet spot’ for the new policy focus of China in the niches of wellness, tourism and resorts and health, as per Barr.
Kimpton would be opening in three new locales including Shanghai, Sanya and Bali in Indonesia. And Even Hotels is coming up in China.
