Slowly becoming an important launch pad for the Hotel owners across Asia, HOT or Hotel Owners for Tomorrow has been opened at HICAP 2016. In this initiation, hotel owners committed to sustainable actions which have been supported by the industry experts, brands and management concerns. HOT witnessed some exclusive launch partners like the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, AKARYN Hotel Group, the International Tourism Partnership, Meritus Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas and Wyndham Worldwide.
To quote Eric Ricaurte, Founder and CEO of Greenview, “The initiative is simple. Commit to five actions to raise awareness and spread best practice. We will build the coalition to provide recognition for hotel companies, global industry organizations and hotel development players who are committed to the future of the industry.” Working with a platform like HOT Coalition, hospitality industry unites with a single voice!
Benefits of having a sustainable future include, assess renewable energy projects, include sustainability from the inception of investment, per year launching an efficiency project per property, a regular monitoring of the sustainable performance and support and share the best practices. As Eric Ricaurte says ‘’ By becoming a signatory, owners will not only receive distinction for helping shape the industry in their destinations, they will also benefit by identifying future costs of regulation, opportunities for increased ROI on investments, and accessing capital from equity partners which require strategy, disclosure and action on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues in order to do business’’.
To quote, Bernhard Bohnenberger, president of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, “We are delighted to be a partner in Hotel Owners for Tomorrow. Sustainability lives at the foundation of Six Senses and is one of our highest priorities when it comes to building properties and operating them. We look forward to participating in this important initiative and making an impact through our actions.”
