It is often said that laughter is food for the soul and nowhere is this now truer than at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles, where Laughing Yoga has just become the latest class to be added to a diverse program of yoga practices.
In this innovative yoga class, guests will be guided on how to use one of the body’s most positive emotions as an effective form of exercise. Starting with a gentle warm up, the 60 minute session includes stretching, chanting, clapping and body movements. Breathing exercises are used to prepare the lungs for laughter, with the Resort’s yogi leading a series of specific “laughter exercises” that combine acting and visualisation techniques with playfulness.
Commenting on the benefits of Laughing Yoga, resident yogi Vishal Ganatra, explains, “Breathing is such a fundamental part of our lives and we don’t always get it right. Laughing Yoga is a great way to exercise the lungs and really work on getting the most out of every breath. This practice is much like an aerobic exercise in that it brings lots of oxygen into the body and brain, which not only makes you feel healthier and more energetic, but also contributes to lowering stress levels, strengthening your immune system and sometimes even reducing pain.”
Laughing Yoga is the 11th type of yoga and meditation to be offered by the Seychelles Resort, which features a diverse menu of classes that includes group sessions of Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga, as well as private sessions on request.
Taking place in the yoga pavilion at the hill-top Spa, Laughing Yoga is priced at EUR 15 per person, subject to 15 percent taxes and 10 percent service charge.
