disneyWith the unveiling of the Avatar-themed land, Animal Kingdom theme park of Disney witnessed an attendance of nearly 15% boom last year and about 1.7 million more people who were walking through the turnstiles in 2017 than in 2016, as per a report that was released on Thursday that tracks attendance at the largest amusement parks of the world.

SeaWorld Orlando had slipped out of the top 25 most-visited theme parks in the world as Universal continued to gain more attendance, particularly at its Hollywood park that had risen by nearly 12%.

Following a flat 2016, the industry is surging as the leading 25 amusement parks in the world witnessed as many as 24 million visitors, marking a rise of nearly 5% from the last year according to the report.

Theme park operators are not known for publicly releasing attendance figures for their properties.

But then the Themed Entertainment Association as well as the global management firm AECOM produce an annual study on attendance that offers a greater insight into the industry.

John Robinett who is the senior vice president of Americas at AECOM mentioned that the industry had resumed its historic pace of growth in the year 2017.

Then he went on to add that major theme park operators had a brilliant year with important overall growth led by properties in China. Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney had retained the title of the most visited theme park in the world, as specified by the report.

Nearly 20.5 million people had visited in 2017up less than about 1% from 2016.

In 2016, the attendance had dropped slightly from that of 2015.

In second place was Disneyland in California that observed about 18.3 million visitors, up about 2%.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom total attendance was 12.5 million, making it the world’s sixth most-visited park and surpassing Epcot’s attendance of 12.2 million.
