The agreement forms part of Auckland Airport’s ‘Four Seasons, Five Senses’ initiative which aims to promote travel to New Zealand year round to enjoy outstanding seasonal travel experiences.
Adrian Littlewood, Auckland Airport’s chief executive, met with Air China’s vice chairman of the commercial committee Jia Tiesheng to sign the agreement in Beijing. The signing was also attended by New Zealand’s Prime Minister, John Key and the Minister of Transport, Hon Simon Bridges.
“Chinese visitor numbers to New Zealand have been growing by approximately 27 per cent each year,” says Adrian. “There are huge opportunities for growth from the Chinese market and collaborating with airlines like Air China is a great way to capitalise on these opportunities.”
The agreement will see Auckland Airport provide marketing support for Air China to develop and enhance its e-commerce and digital platforms.
