The Andrews Labor Government in Australia is helping build new and improved community facilities across Melbourne’s fastest growing suburbs. The Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek announced the 32 successful projects that will receive $50 million funding from the latest ground of the Growing Suburbs Fund.

The Fund is delivering development towards community facilities, better services and more opportunities in Melbourne’s 10 rapidly growing interface councils. The successful projects range from playgrounds to new sports pavilions and family centres, building stronger, more inclusive communities, and improving access to vital services.

Minister Somyurek made the announcement with Member for Kororoit Marlene Kairouz at an event marking the start of construction of the new Caroline Springs Sports Pavilion, which received $1 million from the Fund. The new pavilion will be home to the Caroline Springs Football and Netball Club, and Caroline Springs Cricket Club, as well as providing a space for community groups and events.

Melton City Council will receive an additional $5.35 million towards three new projects, supporting a community recycling facility, an early learning centre for Eynesbury and a community pavilion in Brookside.

With the 2019-20 allocation, the Fund has now supported 193 projects, invested $250 million and leveraged a combined investment of over $665 million, creating more than 6600 jobs across greater Melbourne.
