The Dreamworld theme park that is located in Australia is scheduled to shut down its water ride that has claimed the lives of four people last month. This update has been shared by the owner of Ardent Leisure Group on Wednesday. Two women and two men had died in the month of October after they were trapped under a raft that overturned.
The incident took place on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld.
This park is quite close to the Gold Coast district in Queensland state, Australia. The chief executive of Ardent, Deborah Thomas said that the authorities have decided to close down the water ride as a mark of respect for the memories of the people who died here and their families. She added that this initiative is quite an appropriate one.
Pitt& Sherry, an engineering firm has commenced making an external review of all the rides and operating systems of Dreamworld and Whitewater World ever since the tragedy struck and killed four people last month.
Besides this, an internal review is also being conducted at every ride inside this theme park.
Deborah Thomas said that none of the rides at the Dreamworld park would be permitted to operate until the Workplace Health and Safety Audit has been completed. Also, the rides would only be opened to the visitors after it undergoes the external review and also the multi-level internal review procedures.
