Over 1.3 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines in October 2018. This corresponds to an increase of 11.7 percent compared to the same month the previous year, mainly attributable to the deployment of one additional long-haul aircraft to Asia and Northern America. Availability, measured in Available Seat Kilometres (ASK), increased by 15.6 percent. Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPK) rose by 21.9 percent. Destinations such as Shanghai and Chicago have developed particularly well. The average load factor on flights (the seat load factor) was 81.7 percent in the month of October, 4.2 percentage points higher than last year. The number of flights increased by 5.2 percent in October 2018, to 13,790.
“Our strategy of extending our flight offer to the U.S. and Asia works quite well,” said Andreas Otto, Management Board member and CCO of Austrian Airlines.
In the period from January to October 2018, Austrian Airlines carried over 11.9 million passengers in total. This corresponds to a rise of 8.6 percent compared to the same period the previous year. Availability, measured in ASK, was increased by 6.3 percent. In the first ten months of this year, Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose by 9.7 percent compared to the same period the previous year. The load factor reached 79.8 percent, which corresponds to an increase of 2.5 percentage points. The number of flights increased by 4.8 percent from January to October 2018, to 127,758.
