Azerbaijan, a country of Soviet Union situated at the crossroads of Southwest Asia and Southeastern Europe, is seeing the tourism growth of 20.1% in the 10 months of 2017 amounting to 2,276,604 people.
According to Ministry of Culture and Tourism, this Soviet country is expecting more tourists’ arrival.
Here most of the tourists came from Russia (727,577), followed by Georgia (439,305), Iran (320,904) , Turkey (249,210), the UAE (81,742), Iraq (54 242), Ukraine (49 809) and Saudi Arabia (31 821). The remaining 321,994 people are citizens of other countries. Most foreigners came in July (313,515).
In this year, there are huge number of tourists come from Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Russia. So, this year 115 782 more people came from Iran, from the United Arab Emirates – 42 811 people and from Russia – 96 040 more than last year.
During the ten months in 2016 the number of tourists who came to Azerbaijan was 1 894 707 people.
