Summer is generally considered as one of the best times to explore the world. Sunny vibrant weather, long days, and mouthwatering food have turned Azerbaijan into an influential magnet for many visitors worldwide.
As per Abulfaz Garayev, Culture and Tourism Minister, the tourism industry of Azerbaijan is geared up for the beginning of the summer season that’s going to start from June 15 and last until September 15th respectively.
The minister further highlighted that more guests will come to Azerbaijan this year. He further specified that inflow from the Arab countries, Russia and Iran is expected in full swing this summer.
In May 2016, Garayev further mentioned that more than 174,000 tourists arrived in Azerbaijan.
To quote him, ‘this May 211,000 tourists arrived in Azerbaijan, and this is an increase of about 30 percent. If in the last five months of 2016, some 768,000 tourists arrived in the country, then this year their number reached 956,000, which means an increase of 200,000 tourists. This growth is directly related to the simplification of the visa regime, and we have opened our doors to about 90 countries.’
During the time of Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan (on June 23-25), Garayev stressed that hosting rooms in the major hotel networks at that point of time can be filled by 95 percent. He added that few hotels have already received orders. In terms of hostels, which generally remain a pressing topic for the country for the large tourist influx and lack of budget accommodation, Garayev explained that the corresponding order was issued in this regard.
