City Tourism Officer Ma. Elma Gerasmo said that the tourism show at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) Lobby features Bacolod’s memorabilia from Japan and Korea and showcases must-see places in Bacolod, Korean masks, Japanese antiques, and national costumes of Southeast countries like the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Lao PDR, Thailand and Brunei. There are also specialty cuisines of some Asian countries on display at the Food Alley of the BCGC Atrium. Cultural presentations featuring Asian cultures are being held every afternoon as well as film shows from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the BGC Lobby.
Gerasmo said that on Friday, there will be culminating activities at the BCGC with Cosplay presentation of Asian countries, parade of summer kimono, music and folk dances of the Philippines, Vietnam, Japanese, Taiwan, and Indian. Gerasmo said, “We invite everybody, especially the students to come and witness our activities.”
September is World Tourism Month. The World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27 to increase awareness among the international community about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic impact.
