The South Pacific Tourism Organization (S.P.T.O.) is giving special importance to the leading trade event on sustainable tourism – South Pacific Tourism Exchange (S.P.T.E.) taking place in Sydney in the month of May.
It was officially launched by Chris Cocker, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer; the B.S.P sponsored South Pacific Tourism Exchange (S.P.T.E. 2017) with the theme. To quote Cocker, ‘’ Our Islands are Yours to #TravelEnjoyRespect.’’ The new brand slogan of S.P.T.O. has combined with theme, ‘Ours is Yours’ with the key message of the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development, which is ‘responsible travel’.
To quote Mr. Cocker, ‘S.P.T.E 2017 provides the ideal platform to celebrate the International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development and create greater awareness of the need for sustainable tourism practices that look after our environment, people and unique cultures. This is the South Pacific’s unique selling point and we need to use our resources wisely both for current and future generations. The best way to innovate is to collaborate and so S.P.T.E represents exactly that for S.P.T.O, as a means of private and public sector collaboration with our national tourism offices, private sector and corporate partners.”
