The Barbados Tourism Marketing, Inc or BTMI explains that the tourism of the country is in the winner’s row, once again, defeating destinations like second-place Seychelles and third-place Bermuda to place the number one spot on the 2017 Destination Satisfaction Index (DSI).
On Saturday BTMI explained that over 70,000 travelers were asked all over the world, providing their feedback on 20 different categories like beaches, accommodation, and cuisine and shopping respectively.
In conclusion, BTMI stated Barbados had the highest total World score, 8.8/10, out of the 144 countries. Also, the destination ranked highest in terms of Accommodation category, and highest in the Americas region, before Bermuda and the Bahamas.
The awards were given to the Barbados delegation, headed by Donna Cadogan, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, at the time of a ceremony at ITB Berlin, the well-known travel trade show of the world held in Germany’s capital city.
As per William “Billy” Griffith, BTMI’s chief executive officer, the island makes strategies to influence the tribute in the destination’s marketing communications over the next year.
“For us, it’s going to be very advantageous because, with our marketing and our public relations, we’re going to be saying, ‘we’re best in the world,’ at least for the next 12 months,” he said. “And I think it helps us in our quest to move forward in terms of pressing for success for Barbados tourism.”
