Caribbean leaders should take complete advantage of the information and communication technologies (ICT) and its revolution to enhance the country’s social and financial condition. Caribbean life is heavily getting influenced by the rapid pace of innovation and discoveries in ICT.
The region should keep themselves abreast of the new and revolutionary technological discoveries in order to drive away the economic challenges and establish growth.
The Caribbean Government of Antigua and Barbuda, in collaboration with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) will organize the ICT Week and Symposium at the Sandals Grande Resort and Spa from March 20-24, 2017.
To quote Ms. Bernadette Lewis, the Secretary General of the CTU, ‘’ ICT: Driving 21st Century Intelligent Services. While explaining the purpose of the Week’s activities, she said ‘’ to raise awareness of the ICT revolution, the implications for policy, legislation and regulations and how they can be employed to transform existing operations; to foster social inclusion; provide ICT-based the challenges we face in the region and promote national and regional development.”
The week’s activities include Smart Caribbean Conference, 3rd Caribbean Stakeholders Meeting: Cyber security and Cyber Crime which culminates with the Training Program on Mobile Money for Financial Inclusion and 15th Caribbean Ministerial Strategic ICT Seminar.
