bavarian-traditionsGermany’s largest federal state Bavaria has always been considered a region with strong traditions. Pay a visit – and become part of the cultural experience this Christmas.

Traditions in Bavaria can be experienced in very different areas of life. In the Middle Franconia region of Bavaria, the cuisine is dominated by fish. The carp season here begins in September and sees many Middle Franconia eateries from Bamberg to Nuremberg serve this delicious fish. Young entrepreneurs have joined forces with older generations to come up with new culinary combinations with fish, for example with beer. Beer has become a speciality in its own right in Franconia, a region which boasts the highest density of breweries in Europe.

As part of the anniversary celebrating 500 years of the German Beer Purity Law breweries are offering visitors the opportunity to learn about the delicate balancing act between tradition and innovation. At the historical Maisel brewery in Bayreuth, along the Beer and Castle Route, you can watch the brewers at work and discover for yourself what makes this region so special.
