According to the updated data the international tourists visit Bay of Plenty have spent nearly $1.8 billion.
The latest figures by Monthly Regional Tourism Estimates showed that the international and the national visitors spending in the Bay of Plenty went up to 6% for the year to July 2017.
The international and the national visitors spending made up $613 million of Bay of Plenty’s total, which is an increase of eight per cent compared with the year to July 2016.
The domestic visitors are spending in the Bay of Plenty also recorded at $1.2 billion, an increase of four per cent.
The monthly expenditure for July 2017 rose up to 4 per cent in Bay of Plenty compared with July 2016.
This year Bay of Plenty saw a hit among the visitors in United Kingdom, spending during the DHL NZ Lions Series.
Bay of Plenty or Te Moana-a-Toi is a coastal area located in the northern coast of New Zealand’s North Island. This coastal area is stretching from Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east. It is a popular holiday destination for its warm and sunny summer climate and public beaches. Rotorua is a favourite place for international visitors. Tauranga is a popular domestic tourism destination. There whale watching is a famous destination as the number of whales such as blue whales and humpback whales migrating into bay waters began to recover.
