November 2017 Under the name “Partner of Progress”, Bazaar Berlin, an international sales fair for handicrafts, jewelery, textiles and home accessories, started in the early sixties and since then has stood up for fair and ecological production conditions.
Organic cotton T-shirts, handbags made from leather leftovers or jewelery made by Syrian refugee women – once again this year, numerous exhibitors from all over the world will be there to produce their products fairly and sustainably. In addition, they attach great importance to preserving traditional production techniques and to offering people an employment and income perspective, especially in economically disadvantaged regions. At the Bazaar Berlin, which takes place from 08 to 12 November at the Berlin Exhibition Center, An entire hall is dedicated to Fair Trade (Hall 15.1). “At the trade fair, visitors can talk directly to the dealers who often produce the goods themselves,” says Barbara Mabrook, project manager at Bazaar Berlin. “So you can exactly inquire, where the raw materials come from and under what conditions something was made.”
