From budding gardeners to Michelin starred chefs in the making, Belmond Napasai on Koh Samui, Thailand, offers children a fun-filled insight into the world of work with a new range of ‘My First Job’ activities, nurturing children’s interests from an early age.
Children aged three to 12 can choose from seven complimentary, hour-long work experience activities during their stay at the luxury retreat, which is nestled between verdant tropical gardens and the dazzling sea on the island’s north coast. Little ones with eager tastebuds can ‘take up employment’ as a pastry chef, joining the Head Chef in the hotel’s kitchen. From chocolate roses to coconut biscuits, students receive an expert introduction into the sophisticated art of pastry making before sampling their tasty creations.
Those with a burgeoning interest in beauty can head to Napasai Spa and learn the intricacies of giving the perfect mani-pedi, while artistic types can join the hotel’s florist for a flower arranging workshop, selecting and arranging a colourful bouquet of local blooms. Children can also adopt the roles of expert mocktail mixologist, blending local fruit juices including passion fruit, pineapple and coconut; a Thai dancer, learning the basic steps of this traditional art form; a gardener, feeding the hotel’s farm animals and planting papaya trees; or an engineer, learning how an expert team maintains the hotel.
As well as its innovative programme of ‘My First Job’ experiences, Belmond Napasai offers the perfect wider setting for a multi-generational holiday. Children can learn how to swim and ride a bicycle, with dedicated instructors available on request to help them master these important skills. The hotel can also organise a movie night on the beach for children and families, complete with popcorn and lemonade.
To complement these family-friendly facilities, Belmond Napasai offers a special three-night ‘Family Bliss Package’ including luxury accommodation with breakfast, return transfers and complimentary use of extra beds and cots for under-12s. Little ones are welcomed with fruit, flowers and a sweet treat and each child can enjoy a fruit carving lesson, while at mealtimes a healthy kids’ menu offers tasty treats made using home-grown organic produce. The package also includes one family dinner at either beachfront barbecue Moo Kata or elegant à la carte restaurant Lai Thai.
