The department will also organize an investors’ meet in Calcutta on November 11 to attract more private investments to the project.
The state tourism minister Gautam Deb said during his visit to the site, “Some private investors have already invested in different projects at Bhorer Alo and soon, their projects would be ready. As the area has immense potential for tourism activities and tourists have started visiting the site and the adjoining Teesta Barrage area for a day’s break, we are planning to introduce tent facilities on the site from next month so that they can get accommodation facilities.”
The mega tourism project is coming up on 208 acres of land and is expected to invite investments of around Rs. 2,200 crores.
There will be properties like plush resorts, an ayurvedic spa, a youth hostel, a hospitality training centre and facilities like bird watching centre, golf course, boating, elephant and jeep safaris at the tourist hub.
So far, three private companies have taken plots on the site and are constructing budget and luxury accommodations. The minister checked out the progress of these projects during his visit.
“We plan to showcase Gazoldoba and its high prospects as a mega tourist hub at the upcoming investors meet in Calcutta. We plan to organise the meet on November 11 to invite more investors,” said the minister.
