The event gives 60 suppliers from the North of England the opportunity to present their product to a group of 60 travel buyers from across the globe. Buyers who are seeking to learn more about the North can look to add new attractions and accommodation to their programmes. Suppliers from destinations including Cheshire, the Peak District, Northumberland and Cumbria, among many others will all be exemplifying the very best the North has to offer, as part of a programme of activity to promote the North of England to international visitors.
2880 appointments are due to take place during the event, which is principally funded by the Northern Tourism Growth Fund (NTGF) led by VisitEngland; working closely with partner destinations from across the region. The £10m Northern Tourism Growth Fund is a central government funded programme of activity, supported by match funding by partners in the public and private sectors and well-supported by the industry. Following the event, buyers will be gaining more in-depth knowledge of the North of England on a series of familiarisation trips to take place in Durham, York, Harrogate and the Peak District. Marketing Cheshire is leading on the activity on behalf of the North.
James Berresford, Chief Executive, VisitEngland says “The ‘Best of the North’ event being held today in Harrogate is the largest event of its kind to take place in the North and a fantastic example of how our partners are working together to promote the North of England as a fantastic place to visit, putting its assets firmly on the map.”
