The Tourism Department of Jammu and Kashmir, India is taking another leap to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir is by introducing the winter carnivals and the chopper services to the national and international tourists.
The department took this step after encouraged by the heavy arrival of tourists to the picturesque Bhaderwah town this year.
The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a winter carnival and chopper services to promote the mountainous resort in Jammu region of Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi said that the government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to hold winter carnival at Bhaderwah. This will help to promote it as major tourist destination of the state.
Priya Sethi after inaugurating on the two-day tourism-cum-cultural festival in the town in Doda district and there she said that the winter carnival would be held on the pattern of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Patnitop resorts to boost tourist footfall.
By praising the natural beauty of Bhaderwah, which is popular as “mini Kashmir”, the minister said a large number of national and international tourists have been diverted this year towards this unexplored heaven due to the efforts and initiatives taken up by the government.
Priya Sethi said that it is highly encouraging to note that the area has witnessed record tourist footfall of more than four lakh, which is the highest ever figure. It is expected to go much beyond by the end of this year.
The minister asked the tourism department of Jammu and Kashmir to give wider promotion to the region to attract the tourists in the country and it’s across.
Priya Sethi laid stress on the better transportation connectivity, tourism infrastructure and development of hospitality sector for boosting the tourism to benefit the local stakeholders.
Priya Sethi wants that the people need to explore the other tourism destinations in Jammu and Kashmir like Mata Vaishno Devi, Amarnath and other parts of the state.
Priya Sethi also assured the people that the villages and the tourism destinations will be soon provided the air connectivity on the pattern of other districts as the Union Aviation ministry was providing attractive incentives for regional air connectivity all over India.
Prime Minister Narindra Modi has sanctioned Rs 2,000 crore for boosting this profitable industry in the state and Rs 400 crore has already been released for the purpose.
