‘Black’ doctor accuses Delta Airlines of ‘blatant discrimination’

deltaA resident OB-GYN at the University of Texas-Houston, Tamika Cross has recently accused Delta Airlines of ‘blatant discrimination’ as a female crew member of the Delta flight has insulted her intellect and blocked her from helping a sick passenger.

Tamika Cross has been travelling from Detroit towards Minneapolis on Delta flight DL945.

According to Cross, the flight attendant has questioned her credentials and her intellect as she has been trying to save an unresponsive passenger of the flight.

Even though the flight crew has been asking for help from any physicians onboard, the flight attendant has repeatedly blocked Cross to perform her duty as a doctor. The female crew member has allegedly told Cross, “Oh no sweetie put your hand down, we are looking for actual physicians or nurses or some type of medical personnel, we don’t have time to talk to you.”

Just as another physician, who happens to be a white male, has approached the scene to help the patient, the attendant has not hesitated to let him help.

Catherine Sirna, the spokeswoman for Delta has stated, “Discrimination of any kind is never acceptable. We’ve been in contact with Dr Cross and one of our senior leaders is reaching out to assure her that we’re completing a full investigation.”

Cross has expressed, “I’m sure many of my fellow young, corporate America working women of color can all understand my frustration when I say I’m sick of being disrespected.”

She has also informed that the flight attendant has repeatedly bombarded her with questions like, “What type of Doctor are you? Where do you work? Why were you in Detroit?” The attendant has also kept on blocking Cross from even standing up.

After the incident, the female crew member has come forward to apologize to Cross and to offer her skymiles, which the doctor has kindly refused to accept.

Delta authorities later stated, “As a global airline that brings hundreds of thousands of people together every day, Delta is deeply committed to treating all of our customers with respect.”

The airline has been accused of several discriminatory incidents recently. Delta has sparked outrage recently as a Muslim couple has been removed from the flight for being Muslim.
