The tragic and rare incident forced the Prime Minister of the country to demand an investigation on Wednesday, 2nd November. The Prime Minister also demanded strict punishment if the authorities find any presence of safety violations.
The raging fire initially sparked up in the afternoon at the karaoke club, near a crowded residential area in the outskirts of Hanoi. But the blaze started to spread eventually to three of the neighbouring houses.
The fire crew members had to battle for over two hours to put out the blaze, which filled the air with thick black smoke. After the fire crew stopped working, the rescue workers started their search for the victims in order to provide aid.
The Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc instructed the police in Hanoi to investigate and find the cause of the fire and also asked them to deal strictly with any violations.
Phuc also asked the government of Hanoi to close down any restaurants, discotheques, bars and karaoke parlours, which would fail to take any preventive measures to stop catastrophes like this in the future.
The karaoke parlours of Vietnam are vastly popular among the tourists as they provide ample dose of entertainment to the visitors. But the karaoke bars seldom conduct fire drills to prevent this kind of disasters.
