Blue Islands is significantly increasing capacity on its Guernsey to Southampton service by 250% as they introduce a sixty-six seat ATR 72-500 aircraft.Rob Veron, managing director says,“This is very exciting news as we not only take delivery of our third aircraft acquired this year, but a larger aircraft with 43% more capacity than the ATR-42. Enhancing our connections and the experience for our passengers is at the forefront of our minds as we move into 2014 with strategic business plans just as ambitious as the past three years.”
Over 110,000 extra seats will be available to Southampton and comes at a perfect time in light of the possible impending loss of capacity from Guernsey to Gatwick.“The combination of Flybe abandoning the Gatwick service and the continued growth of our business means it is a perfect time to significantly upgrade our offering from Guernsey to Southampton. We maintain true to our belief that there are better airports to fly to than Gatwick, both for travel to the UK, London and worldwide and our diverse network illustrates this. What’s more we will be recruiting more staff to be based locally as a result of this expansion.”
In addition, Blue Islands offer a special discounted fare with South West trains for travel into London Waterloo, providing significant savings for passengers wishing to travel to London. The £30 anytime return ticket is an anytime ticket providing complete flexibility and favourable pricing. The larger aircraft will significantly enhance the experience for passengers travelling to Southampton with Blue Islands. Mr Veron continues,“In true Blue Islands fashion, the price quoted is always the price paid, but in addition a very special in flight service will be available on our Southampton service.
Hot bacon sandwiches for breakfast and full Champagne bar service for the return flights – complimentary for all passengers, of course. All Blue Islands passengers will also benefit from fast-track security at Southampton Airport.”The ATR 72-500 is a sixty-six seat turbo prop aircraft and is the first of this type for Blue Islands. The aircraft is operated by two pilots and two cabin crew. As such, the airline is currently undertaking this year’s third recruitment drive to recruit ATR captains and cabin crew. The upgraded service is launched with a new lower fare, starting from £39. Bookings can be made now at Blueislands.com and the ATR-72 aircraft will be operating the service from 6 December 2013.
