The fascinating theme of boat racing that is a signature event of the Indian state of Kerala ended up impressing the people at FITUR that is the leading tourism and travel fair in the world. The event was showcased by the Kerala Tourism Board, focusing on the special charms of God’s Own Country that is Kerala.
The Kerala Tourism Board had a large stall at the fair that lasted from 18th to 22nd January.
The fair had taken place in the capital of Spain, Madrid. It had wonderfully recreated the theme of boat race and this is indeed hugely popular. It literally swept the visitors off their feet at the fair.
U V Jose, the director of Kerala Tourism Board said that the stall of Kerala had managed to lure in a great amount of response from the general public.
He went on to add that they all enjoyed interesting discussions and meetings with the industry partners in Spain. They were curious about the special boat race that is practiced in Kerala, apart from being taken aback by the serene backwaters and the rejuvenation therapies of Ayurveda.
He said that they had agreed to send more tourists to Kerala by including its destinations in their travel packages.
D B Venkatesh Varma, Indian Ambassador to Spain and Vinod Zutshi, the Secretary to the Union Ministry of Tourism were among the visitors to the Kerala stall. Joe said that this is actually the 13th year of participation of Kerala in FITUR.
Kerala Tourism Board is hopeful of attracting greater number of tourists from Europe and therefore it is planning to host road shows in Rome (Italy) on 26th January and Lyon (France) on 24th January.
Jose also asserted that Spain has actually developed as a key tourist market for Brand Kerala.
For, of late, it has been witnessed that there has been a healthy increase in travellers from Spain.
