As per recent statistics, the booming tourism industry of Bolton has produced £420 million local economy. Bolton Food and Drink Festival and Ironman UK Triathlon enhanced the tourism industry of Bolton to £420.4 million in 2015. This is an increase of 3.7 percent of 2014.
The figures as forecast by Bolton Council, shows that total number of visitors increased from 6.4 million to 6.5 million which is 2.2 per cent rise in the last few years. Ongoing development of the town centre along with growing number of attractions at the Market Place Shopping Centre, will take tourism income to further heights in the last 12 months.
To quote Cllr Cliff Morris, leader of Bolton Council, ‘’ It is clear that Bolton is a popular destination and we are committed to attracting more people to the borough.Fantastic events like our Food and Drink Festival, the continued success of the Ironman UK Triathlon, and the world’s largest Ironkids have helped to bring new people to Bolton.
These figures are for 2015 and we know since then, there will have been even more visitors due to further investment in the town centre.”
He also says, ‘’ We recognize that there is still work to be done, and things like the £48 million Interchange and continuing the success of our events will be key to attracting more people to the town in future years.”
