Another bombing and heinous shooting attack took place at Bangladesh which killed at least four people and left many injured. The attack took place at the largest gathering for Eid prayers in Bangladesh.
A day after the Islamic State warned that more attacks would follow the militants’ bloody siege in the capital last week; this attack left the world shocked.
The attack took place at Kishoreganj district which is almost 60 miles northeast of Dhaka. As many as 200,000 people gathered to offer the prayers for the Eid al-Fitr, the day which marks the conclusion of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Half an hour before the prayers started, a certain group of men arrived who approached a police checkpoint, at a high school near the prayer ground, and set off a bomb. They attacked the police out of nowhere and were carrying guns and bladed weapons.
The police killed one of the attackers and arrested two others. A thorough investigation is under the way. Following the blast, police cordoned the entire area and searched the nearby houses for suspects.
It was the second terror attack to hit the country in a week, after Isis militants massacred 22 people at a café in Dhaka.
No group immediately took the responsibility of the terror attack. The government although insisted that it was carried out by domestic militants fighting to destabilize Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s secular government and establish Islamic rule in the Muslim-majority nation.
