Bosomtwe Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Western Africa will be brought to the forefront as one of the top attractions of this region this year by the Ghana Tourism Authority. Zip-line for cable cars, construction of a walkway and bicycle trail will be the recent additions to the attraction.
Mr. Peter Achampong, the acting Ashanti Regional Manager of the Authority, said that there will be re-development of the Busia’s lodge which is considered a strategic site with an airstrip. It was left abandoned since the overthrow of the late Prime Minister’s government in military coup in 1972.
The entire revamping would be done, as explained by Mr. Peter Achampong in partnership with the Bosomtwe and Bosome-Freho District Assemblies. M&J Travel and Tours is one of the key investors. He was narrating all these after a tour of the lake – a designated United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) heritage site. Mr. Achampong also said that they were quite convinced about considerable rise in tourist inflow and generates more revenue and creating better job possibilities in the future.
